The Chassidic Dynasty of Radomsk in Poland existed over four generations. The founder was Rabbi Shlomo HaChoen Rabinowicz z. tz. l. (1801 - 1866), author of one of the best known classics of Chassidic literature, "Tifereth Shlomo" which is constantly being reprinted.
The Tifereth Shlomo was also known as a great Baal Tfilah and composer of Chassidic music. He used to say: "New and beautiful nigunim for each holiday are just like a new and beautiful Esrog for Succoth."
The second Rabbi of Radomsk, the Chesed L' Avraham (1843 - 1892) continued in the same way as his father. The third Rabbi of Radomsk was the Knesset Yecheskiel (1864 - 1910). Although he did not possess the musical talent of his forefathers, music still played a prominent role in the Chassidus of Radomsk in his time. The last Rabbi, Rabbi Shlomo Chanoch who perished with his family in 1942 in the Warsaw Ghetto was known for the chain of Yeshivoth "Keter Torah" he had established throughout Poland. The Radomsker Chassidim during the period between the two World Wars, were counted among the three largest Chassidic movements in Poland.
The melodies presented in this album were sung at the last Rabbi's Beth Hamidrash in Sosnowiec. Many of the nigunim are still originals composed by the Tifereth Shlomo or introduced by other Chassidic composers and Baalei Tfilah.
